Terms of service

These terms apply to hacklab.so, the Hacklab CLI, the Hacklab assistant, and Hacklab’s connected apps and integrations (together, “Hacklab” or the “service”). By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data.

Who can use Hacklab

You must be at least 16 and able to agree to these terms under the laws where you live. If you use Hacklab for an organization, you must have permission to act for it.

Your account

Sign in with your own GitHub or Google account and keep your account details accurate. You are responsible for protecting access to your account, CLI credentials, and connected assistants, and for the activity you authorize through them. Tell us at yo@hacklab.so if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission.

Your content and public profile

You keep ownership of the content you add to Hacklab. You give us permission to store, copy, process, and display that content as needed to operate and provide the service, including delivering messages to the recipients you choose. You must have the rights and permissions needed to share it.

Your public profile, CV, visible social links, selected repositories, usage totals, and public posts can be read by other people, search engines, and AI agents. Public pages are also available as Markdown and structured data. Only share information you are allowed to make public. Our privacy policy describes which information stays private and the visibility choices available to you.

You can edit or remove content and request account deletion. Our permission to use your content ends when it is deleted from our systems, except where retention is required by law or for security, or where content has already been shared with others. We cannot remove copies independently saved by recipients, search engines, or other third parties.

Acceptable use

When using Hacklab, do not:

• Break the law or infringe someone else’s privacy, intellectual property, or other rights.
• Impersonate someone or misrepresent your experience, work, or authority over an organization.
• Post unlawful, threatening, harassing, or exploitative content, or send spam or scams.
• Upload malware, steal credentials, or attempt to access accounts or data without permission.
• Disrupt the service, bypass access controls or rate limits, or fabricate usage to manipulate rankings.
• Collect or use other members’ information for harassment, spam, or unlawful discrimination.

Report abuse or content that infringes your rights to yo@hacklab.so. Include the relevant link and enough detail for us to investigate. We may remove content or restrict accounts that violate these terms or create a security risk.

The CLI and Arena

Installing and running the CLI authorizes it to sync AI coding usage and repository metadata as described in our privacy policy. Only sync data you have permission to share, including when using an employer’s device or repositories. Stop background syncing with hacklab daemon uninstall, and sign out with hacklab logout.

Token totals and estimated costs measure recorded activity. They can be incomplete or inaccurate and are not a certification of skill, code quality, spending, or employment. Rankings may change as usage is processed or corrected.

AI assistants and connected apps

The Hacklab assistant can make mistakes. Review its replies before relying on them, and check the details of actions you ask an assistant to take. Do not send secrets or information you do not have permission to share.

When you connect Hacklab to an assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude, you authorize access within the permissions shown during connection. Depending on those permissions, the assistant can read or edit your profile and CV, manage organizations, publish jobs, or send job invitations on your behalf. Review the content and recipients before authorizing an action. Disconnecting an app does not undo changes or messages already sent.

Third-party assistants and services have their own terms and privacy policies. Hacklab does not control how those services handle information you share with them.

Organizations, jobs, and member interactions

Only manage an organization or publish a job if you are authorized to do so. Job posts and invitations must be accurate, lawful, and relevant to their recipients. You are responsible for your communications, hiring decisions, and agreements with other members. Hacklab does not guarantee a member’s identity, qualifications, a job offer, or an employment outcome.

Availability and changes to the service

Hacklab is currently free for members. We may change, add, or discontinue features. If we introduce paid features, we will show the price and applicable terms before you choose to purchase them. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability; keep your own copies of information you need.

Ending your use of Hacklab

You may stop using Hacklab at any time. To request account deletion, email yo@hacklab.so from the address on your account. Uninstalling the CLI or disconnecting an assistant does not delete your account. The privacy policy explains deletion and retention.

We may suspend or end access for violations of these terms, abuse, security risks, or where required by law. Contact us if you believe a restriction was a mistake. Terms that by their nature need to continue, including ownership and limits on liability, continue after access ends.

Disclaimers and responsibility

To the extent permitted by law, Hacklab is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. You are responsible for deciding whether the service and information shared through it meet your needs.

To the extent permitted by law, Hacklab is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or loss of data arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limits mandatory consumer rights that apply where you live.

Changes to these terms

We will update the date above when these terms change and notify members of significant changes in the app or by email before they take effect. If you do not agree to updated terms, stop using the service and request account deletion. Otherwise, your continued use after the changes take effect means you accept the updated terms, to the extent permitted by law.
